Castle of Amboise

Amboise is very near from Tours, at about 120 km from Le Mans. Built in the 15th and 16th centuries, this authentic royal castle, introduces Italian style to the Loire valley. Relive the warmth of the past in this historical place thanks to the presence of an exceptional collection of Gothic and Renaissance furnishings.
After visiting the royal residences and the Saint-Hubert chapel (guided tour given by an in-house guide-lecturer), do not miss a free walk through the beautiful panoramic gardens full of Mediterranean plants.
In the Saint-Hubert chapel, the tomb of Leonardo da Vinci has recently been elegantly restored.

Wine tasting

Winegrowers from the area share their passion for wine and the appellation AOC Touraine-Amboise at a private wine tasting session (four different wines)(in French or English) in the Lys de France hall.( The Lys de France room is the former refectory of the guards of the mediaeval fortress of Amboise. This room overlooks the Loire. )

Cruise on the Loire river

To end the visit, we’ll have a cruise on the Loire river! We will go to Rochecorbon (20 km from Amboise)
The Loire valley is renowned for the Chateaux and the scenery. What better way to appreciate the natural beauty of europe's last untamed river than a gentle, 50 minutes cruise aboard the Saint-Martin-de-Tours, a 66 place agreably furnished and protective river cruiser. The Saint-Martin-de-Tours is the only passenger boat in Touraine offering unique view of the limestone cliffs and troglodyte house of Rochecorbon and this landscape declared World Heritage Beauty site by UNESCO, for a 50 minutes cruise.
